Inferior temporal gyrus malformation

Our patient yesterday suffered from intractable epilepsy.  This first image shows the malformation in the gyrus on the left side of the photo behind the eye.  If you compare the two gyri, the normal one on the right has the shape of a flower with the outer edges in dark grey.  The left side is more rounded.

 


The skull cap removed, the electrode grid here labeled 1-7 is used to map out the areas where the seizure like activity is being generated by the brain.  

 Tissue for the experiment was removed from electrode 6 in this image.
