Surgery Friday
This is a photo from the surgery last Friday. The patient suffered from a deep subcortical tumor, and presented with seizures. The silvery end of the suction is pointing to the inferior temporal cortex, the region that was most epileptic during the surgery. Everything went perfectly during the experiment. The tissue was very active within a few hours after the tissue had been removed. I collected more than 6 hours of data at 20 kHz which is awesome.
OH, and the paper will be published in the December issue of Journal of Clinical Neurophysiology! Of course I'll post a link when it's hot off the press.
The title, "aberrant neuronal avalanches in tissue removed from juvenile human epileptics".
