Frontal Lobe Epilepsy

Hello again out there in the blogosphere. Today we had a patient. Pictured here is the open skull over the left frontal lobe. To orient you, the patient's nose should be in the same plane as the fork looking instrument at the top of the image. The patient has severe epileptic seizures. The white dot is a guide that is placed into the brain to guide, the removal of bad tissue. It's not just resting on the surface, it is a long thin tube placed directly into bad tissue below the surface. Dr. Smith removes the epileptic tissue, and gives it to me. I take it back to the lab, and prepare it so we can watch seizures, and try to figure out how we can prevent them.
